Workshop on Millets: Cultivation, Nutrition and & Business Opportunities – Dept. of Chemistry

Workshop on “Millets – Cultivation, Nutrition and and Business Opportunities” was jointly organized by Dept. of Chemistry, Kamaraj College, Thoothukudi, and Vidiyel Trust, Vilathikulam at Kamaraj College, Tuticorin on September 27, 2024. This event was conducted to promote the cultivation of Millets, making delicious food using millets and further enhance various business activities based on millets yielding good profit. Dr. Balakumar, former Principal of PSN College Engineering & Technology, Tirunelveli was the Chief guest .Scientist Murugan & Ms Sumathi from SCAD-KVK, Thoothukudi delivered lectures highlighting the various aspects of Millets – cultivation, value added millet food items. Mr. Senthilkumar, CEO of Vidiyel FED and Mr Surya Narayanan discussed the market demand for millets and entrepreneurial opportunities in this sector. Vidiyel Trust provided variety of fresh millet food items to all participants. Nearly 250 students participated. Dr G Vanmathi, Associate professor, organized this event along with Dr K Jothimoni, Director, Vidiyel Trust as a part of MoU between the organizations.
