The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 1968 and has since been a cornerstone of the institution’s science education. With a strong emphasis on foundational knowledge and practical skills, the department has played a vital role in nurturing scientific curiosity and academic excellence.
To meet the growing interest in chemical sciences, the department expanded its academic offerings with the introduction of the B.Sc. Chemistry programme in the self-financing stream in 1999, followed by the launch of the M.Sc. Chemistry programme in 2014. These additions have enabled students to pursue higher education and research opportunities within the same academic environment.
The department currently comprises 12 dedicated faculty members, of whom 6 serve under the aided stream and the remaining contribute through the self-supporting stream. With well-equipped laboratories, experienced faculty, and a student-centered approach, the Department of Chemistry continues to foster a vibrant academic environment for aspiring chemists.
