In 1958 Shri. Vethathiri Maharishi founded the World Community Service Centre (WCSC), a non-profit registered society, with a view to work towards World Peace through individual peace. The World Community Service Centre (WCSC) is to bring peace in the society through peace in the individual. As society is made up of individual human beings, it follows that peace must emanate from individuals, and then permeate into family life, and further on to the society at large. Ultimately world peace will blossom. The practice and teachings of the W.C.S.C. are made so as to combine and integrate these three aims. Our Manonmaniam Sundaranar Univeristy and WCSC jointly framed a syllabus Manavalaikkalai Yoga for the younger generations to benefit physically, mentally, socially and spiritually from his teachings and practices.

Manonmaniam Sundaranar University has introduced the yoga course in the affiliated colleges for UG students. This yoga program as a theory and practical paper and allotted to second semester as a Common Paper.
