YOGA
In 1958, Shri Vethathiri Maharishi established the World Community Service Centre (WCSC), a registered non-profit organization, with the vision of achieving world peace through individual peace. The core belief of WCSC is that lasting peace in society can only be attained by fostering peace within each individual. Since society is a collective of individuals, peace must begin at the personal level, extend to family life, and ultimately influence the broader community. When this inner peace is cultivated collectively, world peace will naturally flourish.
The teachings and practices of WCSC are carefully designed to integrate physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, in harmony with the pursuit of individual and societal peace.
In alignment with this philosophy, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, in collaboration with WCSC, has introduced a specialized yoga syllabus titled Manavalaikkalai Yoga. This course aims to benefit the younger generation by enhancing their physical health, mental clarity, emotional balance, social responsibility, and spiritual awareness.
As part of this initiative, the University has made this Yoga course a mandatory component of the undergraduate curriculum across its affiliated colleges. Offered as both a theory and practical paper, the course is taught during the second semester as a Common Paper, ensuring that all students gain exposure to these transformative practices.
