Workshop on Let’s Elevate our Indigenous Rice – Botany Dept.

PG Department of Botany organised a workshop entitled “Let’s Elevate our Indigenous rice” on 06.03.2024. Dr.Velusamy Karthikeyan, Assistant professor, Department of Botany, Thiagarajar college, Madurai served as a resource person. Dr.A.Asock, Vice principal of our college honoured the resource person and gave the felicitation address. Dr. Veluswamy Karthikeyan delivered an elaborate talk about traditional rice varieties in Tamilnadu. He also explained the incredible health benefits, nutritional significance, therapeutic properties and physiological effects of Indian rice varieties. He also has displayed more than120 traditional rice varieties, which was very useful for our students. The PG,UG and the research scholars from Botany department actively participated in this workshop. Our students interact with research person and gave a valuable feedback. Totally 150 students participated in this workshop & got benefited.
