Women’s Safety Awareness Programme: 10 Powerful Lessons for Cyber Safety

Introduction

The Women’s Safety Awareness Programme was successfully organized by the Department of Business Administration of Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi, in association with JCI Tuticorin Herculaneum Elite, on 13 July 2026 at the Mini Seminar Hall, Golden Jubilee Block. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among students about women’s safety, legal rights, self-protection, cyber security and the importance of building confidence in everyday life.

The programme provided a meaningful platform for girl students to understand the importance of awareness, courage, self-confidence and responsible action. It also helped them gain practical knowledge about safety measures, reporting procedures, emergency response and personal empowerment.

Objectives of the Programme

The Women’s Safety Awareness Programme was organized to educate students about personal safety, legal protection and cyber awareness.

The major objectives of the programme were:

  • To create awareness about women’s safety in daily life
  • To educate students about legal rights and protection measures
  • To explain safety precautions to be followed in public places
  • To create awareness about cybercrime prevention
  • To encourage students to report incidents without fear
  • To motivate students to develop self-confidence and leadership qualities

Presidential Address by the Principal

The programme commenced with the Presidential Address delivered by Dr. K. Bhanumathi, Principal, Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi.

In her address, she emphasized the significance of empowering women through education, awareness and self-confidence. She explained that students must be aware of their rights and should develop the courage to face challenges in daily life. She also encouraged students to remain alert, responsible and confident in both academic and social environments.

Her address gave a meaningful beginning to the Women’s Safety Awareness Programme and motivated the students to actively participate in the session.

Felicitation Address

The Felicitation Address was delivered by Dr. A. Arunachala Rajan, Vice Principal, Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi.

He appreciated the Department of Business Administration and JCI Tuticorin Herculaneum Elite for organizing a relevant and socially important awareness programme. He highlighted that women’s safety is a collective responsibility and that students must be educated about legal rights, safety practices and responsible use of technology.

Resource Person of the Programme

The resource person for the programme was Mrs. R. Sorna Rani. She delivered an informative and interactive session on various aspects of women’s safety.

She discussed legal provisions available for the protection of women, safety measures to be followed in public places, cybercrime prevention, emergency response mechanisms and the importance of reporting incidents without fear. Her session was practical, clear and highly useful for the students.
