Visit to the Old Age Home – English Dept.

On 21.03.2023 the department of English (SF) visited the Light Old Age Home located at Arumuganeri, Thiruchendur. The department intends to inculcate humanitarian values, moral and social responsibility among students by visiting orphanage or old age home yearly. The post graduate students of the department took the initiative to arrange the visit. The Light Old Age Home run by the Light Social Welfare Trust has 120 old, mentally retarded and visual changelled dwellers. One hundred and ten students along with eight staff from our department visited the home. Our students organised many cultural programmes and games for the inhabitants. They also spent quality time with the elders who are bed ridden and inquired about their health condition. Our students gave them an appetizing meal in the afternoon. They also donated towels, blankets and some packed food items like rusk and biscuits to the senior citizens of the home. On the whole the inhabitants enjoyed the performances and food provided by the students.
