The Unsung Heroes in Thoothukudi District

The Indian council of Historical Research sponsored a one day National Level Seminar in collaboration with The P.G & Research Department of History, Kamaraj College, Thoothukudi on Topic “The Unsung Heroes in Thoothukudi District” on 29.04.2022.The students of the History Department coordinated the whole program with the guidance of the Principal, Dr. D. Nagaraj and the Head of the Department, Dr. A. Devaraj. The welcome address was given by V. Durga ( ll B.A.History). The Presidential Address was given by Dr. D. Nagarajan, Principal, Kamaraj College. The inaugural address was given by Dr. Subramania Pillai, Principal of Aringhnar Anna College, from Aralwaimozhi. He is the Syndicate Member of M.S.University and also the Member of Planning Board for Tamil University, Thanjavur. The vote of thanks was given by Mr. Nathish ( l B.A. History) Student coordinator. The technical session inspired the Audience with awe and wonder when they heard about the great achievements of those unsung heroes from Thoothukudi. It started with the speech of Dr. C. Chandrasekar, Assistant Professor of History, Government Arts College, Dharmapuri on the topic ” Untold stories of Unsung Heroes with Specific reference to Thoothukudi”. It was followed by the exciting Speech of Dr. J. Suresh, Assistant Professor & Associate NCC officer from University College, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala ,on the topic ” Unique Unsung Heroes and Indian Freedom Struggle”. The feast of knowledge was uninterrupted and exalted with the Speech of Dr. D. Sandeep Kumar, Associate Professor & Head, Tagore Government College of Arts & Science, Pondicherry on the topic ” The influence of National Movement on Tamil Nadu”. More than 300 students participated and enjoyed the seminar. R. Saranya from l M.A. History welcomed the Chief Guest Dr. C. Periaswamy, Associate Professor, Zunheboto Government College, Nagaland, who conveyed the Valedictory address and distributed the Certificates to the Paper Presenters.50 Papers were presented and all those papers were released as proceedings in an ISBN book . The seminar came to an end with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. A. Devaraj, Assistant Professor & Head, PG and Research Department of History, Kamaraj College, Thoothukudi. The program was coordinated and well organized by the students with the guidance of the staff members of the Department.
