Students Council Investiture Ceremony: Introduction

The Students Council Investiture Ceremony for the academic year 2026–2027 was held on 03 July 2026 at Kamarajar Kalvi Arangam, Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi. The ceremony was conducted with great enthusiasm, dignity and discipline in the presence of the college management, faculty members, students and newly elected student representatives.

The Students Council Investiture Ceremony marked an important occasion in the academic calendar of the college, as the newly elected student leaders were formally entrusted with their responsibilities. The event emphasized leadership, discipline, responsibility, teamwork, integrity and service to the student community.

Objectives of the Ceremony

The Students Council Investiture Ceremony was organized to formally install the newly elected office bearers and student representatives of the Students’ Council for the academic year 2026–2027.

The major objectives of the Students Council Investiture Ceremony were:

Commencement of the Students Council Investiture Ceremony

The programme commenced with the academic procession, which added dignity and formality to the occasion. It was followed by Tamil Thai Vazhthu, prayer song and the ceremonial lighting of the kuthuvilakku.

The traditional beginning created a respectful and inspiring atmosphere for the ceremony. It also reflected the values of the institution and the importance given to culture, discipline and academic tradition.

Welcome Address

Dr. M. Ummu Jasmine, Students Council Coordinator, delivered the Welcome Address. She warmly welcomed the dignitaries, management representatives, faculty members, students and the newly elected student representatives.

In her address, she highlighted the importance of the Students’ Council in representing the student community and supporting the smooth functioning of college activities. She also encouraged the new office bearers to carry out their duties with commitment, humility and responsibility.

The welcome address created a positive beginning to the Students Council Investiture Ceremony.

Honouring of the Chief Guest

The Chief Guest of the programme was Thiru. A. Raj Kumar, Alumnus, M/s. Arvinth Auto Agency, Thoothukudi. He was honoured with a shawl by the Secretary, Thiru. R. Muthu Selvam.

The honouring of the Chief Guest reflected the institution’s respect for its alumnus and his contribution to the programme. His presence also served as an inspiration for the students, as alumni play an important role in motivating present students through their experience and achievements.

Dr. K. Bhanumathi, Principal, was also presented with a memento during the programme.

Presidential Address

The Presidential Address was delivered by the Secretary of the College, Thiru. R. Muthu Selvam. In his address, he emphasized the importance of student leadership and responsible participation in campus life.

He encouraged the newly elected student representatives to act as role models for their fellow students. He also reminded them that leadership is not only about holding a position but also about service, discipline, accountability and commitment.

Special Address by the Chief Guest

The Special Address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Thiru. A. Raj Kumar, Alumnus of Kamaraj College. His address was inspiring and highly relevant to the student representatives.

He encouraged the students to uphold leadership qualities, discipline, responsibility and service. He also highlighted the importance of using leadership opportunities to develop confidence, communication skills, decision-making ability and social responsibility.

The special address motivated the students to perform their duties sincerely and contribute positively to the growth and excellence of Kamaraj College.

Investiture of Office Bearers

The official investiture began with the oath-taking and signing ceremony of the office bearers of both the Aided and Unaided streams.

The office bearers included:

  • Chairman
  • Vice-Chairman
  • Secretary
  • Joint Secretary
  • Treasurer

The office bearers were ceremonially vested with robes and badges by the dignitaries and Heads of the Departments. The robes and badges symbolized their responsibility, leadership and commitment to serve the student community with integrity and dedication.

This important moment officially marked the beginning of their responsibilities as student leaders for the academic year 2026–2027.

Oath-Taking and Signing Ceremony

The oath-taking and signing ceremony was one of the most significant parts of the Students Council Investiture Ceremony. The student representatives formally accepted their responsibilities and pledged to uphold the values of the institution.

The oath reminded the office bearers of their duty to maintain discipline, support student welfare, coordinate college activities and work in cooperation with the management and faculty members.

The honouring of the Action Force Commanders recognized their important role in supporting college programmes and maintaining coordination during events. These teams play a vital role in event management, hospitality, reporting, stage coordination and campus support.

A group photograph was also taken with all the commanders to commemorate the occasion.

Acceptance Speech by the Student Chairmen

The Chairman of the Aided stream, Bless Gabriel Cecil of III B.Sc Physics, delivered his acceptance speech. He expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and assured his sincere service to the student community.

The Chairman of the Unaided stream, K. Stalin of III B.Sc Criminology and Forensic Science, also delivered his acceptance speech. He thanked the management, faculty members and students and promised to discharge his responsibilities with commitment.

Both acceptance speeches reflected confidence, gratitude and a strong sense of responsibility. They also showed the willingness of the student leaders to work for the welfare of the college and the student community.

General Oath for Student Representatives

The general oath was administered to all the student representatives by Mr. P. Anand. The oath reaffirmed their commitment to uphold the values, discipline and responsibilities of the Students’ Council.
