
Skill Training Program: 7 Practical Entrepreneurial Skills for Women
Introduction
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (ED Cell), Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi, in association with the Women Entrepreneurs Welfare Association (WEWA), organised a Skill Training Program on 03 August 2026 at the GN Block Seminar Hall.
The Skill Training Program was organised to empower women by providing practical entrepreneurial skills that could be developed into sustainable home based business opportunities. A total of 111 participants attended the programme and actively participated in the hands on training sessions.
Welcome and Presidential Address
The Skill Training Program commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Dr. R. Karuppasamy, Coordinator, Entrepreneurship Development Cell.
The presidential address was delivered by Dr. S. Senthil, Principal In charge, who highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship and encouraged participants to make effective use of the opportunities created through the Entrepreneurship Development Cell. He also emphasised the role of skill based training in promoting self employment and women empowerment.
Felicitation Address
Dr. A. Arunachala Rajan, Vice Principal, delivered the felicitation address and appreciated the efforts of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and WEWA in organising a meaningful programme for women.
He encouraged the participants to utilise the skills gained during the training to become financially independent and contribute to the growth of society through entrepreneurship.
Hands On Skill Training Session
The Skill Training Program featured an interactive hands on training session conducted by Mrs. S. Poongadi, Trainer, who was introduced by Dr. Krishna Radhakrishnan, Founder of WEWA.
The participants received practical training in the preparation of:
- Colour Phenyl
- Room Spray
- Washing Powder
The trainer demonstrated simple and cost effective production methods suitable for home based micro enterprises. Participants actively engaged in the practical sessions and gained valuable knowledge about raw materials, preparation techniques and quality maintenance.
Promoting Women Entrepreneurship
The Skill Training Program focused on creating self employment opportunities for women through low investment business ideas.
Participants learned how household products can be manufactured using affordable materials and marketed successfully as small scale entrepreneurial ventures. The programme motivated women to explore self employment opportunities and become economically independent.
