
Role of Catalyst in Chemistry
The National Seminar was inaugurated by Dr V S Vasanta, Registrar of Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai and also Professor of Natural Products Chemistry by 10:30 AM on 22-04-22. Dr. D. Nagarajan, the Principal of Kamaraj College felicitated the seminar and wished it a successful one. The proceedings of the seminar were released by the senior professor of chemistry Dr. Theodore David of St.John’s College, Palayamkottai. The flyer for the forthcoming International Seminar on the Recent Advances in Catalysis also was released on the occasion.
In her address, Dr. V. S. Vasantha stressed the importance of catalysis in ushering in a new era. She invited the students to join the new course on electroplating conducted by Madurai Kamaraj University for employment in Industries. She offered to take up new startup projects in Chemistry. Dr. G. Vanmathi, the organizing secretary explained the importance of her patent and its possible applications, Dr.S. Balakumar. Professor of Chemistry deliberated on designing a research project on Photocatalysis. Dr. U.P, Senthil Kumar, President, RECEPS Ltd, Pharmaceuticals Vishakapatnam and Dr. D. Suresh from Sastra University, Thanjavur gave their lectures online highlighting the importance of catalysts in various chemical, pharmaceutical industries etc..About 210 students from 20 colleges participated in the seminar. More than 20 papers were presented by the scholars and students in the seminar, 15 papers in person and 10 papers in online mode.
Best oral presentation awards were given to those selected online and offline. Lunch & Seminar Kit was provided to all. Highlights of the seminar were conducted both online and offline. (First by Dept. of Chemistry). Release of proceedings in a book form with ISBN-International Standard Book Number. The contents of the proceedings have both articles and abstracts of papers. Best presentation awards for both online and offline presentations.
