Report on Road Safety and Awareness Programme
Road Safety Awareness was the central focus of a programme jointly organized by NSS Units 54, 55, 56, 145, 146 and 181, in association with the Anti-Drug Committee and Anti-Ragging Committee of Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi. More than 150 students actively participated in the programme and gained valuable knowledge about road safety, drug prevention and the importance of maintaining a ragging-free campus.
The programme aimed to encourage students to follow traffic rules, adopt responsible driving practices and understand their role in creating a safe and disciplined society. Moreover, the session connected road safety with broader issues of personal and social responsibility.
Objectives of the Programme
The Road Safety Awareness programme focused on helping students understand that responsible behaviour can prevent accidents and protect lives.

Welcome Address by Dr. A. Devaraj
Dr. A. Devaraj, Assistant Professor of History, delivered the welcome address. He warmly welcomed the resource person and all the participating students.
During his address, he highlighted the importance of Road Safety Awareness in everyday life. Furthermore, he urged students to remain cautious while using the roads and to follow safety measures consistently.
He reminded the students that responsible road behaviour protects not only their own lives but also the lives of fellow road users.
Traffic Inspector Leads the Awareness Session
Mr. Shanmugam Balan, Traffic Inspector, served as the resource person for the programme and delivered an informative awareness session.
He explained the importance of following traffic regulations and adopting responsible road behaviour. In addition, he highlighted how simple safety practices can reduce the risk of road accidents and save lives.
The resource person encouraged students to respect traffic regulations and develop responsible habits whenever they travel.
