In Tamilnadu, Kamaraj College of Thoothukudi District, various social activities and entrepreneurship training programme has been provided in the 5 adopted villages under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Scheme. Importantly, gathering unemployed youths and initiating JLG (Joint Liability Group), providing entrepreneurship training programme for SHGs and STEM, NIPUN were some of the notable educational programs. In Tamirabarani irrigated areas where Banana and paddy farming has flourished in villages, Bee Boxes has been kept by women group and Bee keeping has been implemented. The Honey collected by bees from Jamun tree, Neem tree and Various medicinal plants is rich in medicinal benefits which can be used as daily food. Rural women has been earning a decent income by Bee keeping. Women and college students were also trained as Bee keepers. By this, Rural economy and women empowerment has been improved.
