Palm Seed Sowing Campaign – NSS Unit: 218

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit 218 of Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi, organised a Palm Seed Sowing Campaign on 31 October 2026 (Saturday) at Muppilivetti Pond, Puthiyamputhur, with the support of We Can Trust and NDSO Trust.

The campaign was inaugurated by Mr. Sakthivel, Coordinator, We Can Trust, who highlighted the importance of conserving the environment and promoting traditional palm cultivation. He encouraged the volunteers to actively participate in environmental protection initiatives and contribute towards building a greener and more sustainable society.

A total of 25 NSS volunteers enthusiastically participated in the campaign and collectively sowed 3,000 palm seeds at the designated location. The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness, conserve the traditional Palmyra tree, protect natural resources and encourage ecological sustainability.

The campaign provided an excellent opportunity for NSS volunteers to demonstrate their commitment to environmental conservation and community service. The programme was coordinated by Dr. R. Karuppasamy, Programme Officer, NSS Unit 218.

The campaign concluded successfully with the active participation and dedicated service of the NSS volunteers, reflecting the NSS motto, “NOT ME BUT YOU.”
