Outreach Program – Dept. of English
On 27 August 2024, the TQI volunteers of the PG & Research Department of English (SF) went to Tharuvaikulam Government Higher Secondary School, engaging students of different grades with tailored sessions. For the 9th grade the focus was on mind mapping, a technique designed to simplify complex subjects. The students were enthusiastic about the method, appreciating how it made difficult topics easier to grasp and promising for their academic future. The session’s hands-on approach helped students visualize and organize information effectively. For the 10th grade, the emphasis was on teamwork. The interactive session fostered participation, as students discussed strategies for effective collaboration. Practical tips on prioritizing tasks and organizing schedules were shared, making the session both practical and engaging. Students were actively involved in the discussions, reflecting their keen interest in improving their teamwork skills. For the 11th grade the focus was on working with constraints, particularly the concepts of reaction versus response. The session highlighted how to handle situations thoughtfully rather than impulsively. Students engaged in discussions and activities to differentiate between sympathy and empathy, enhancing their interpersonal skills. Throughout the day, a variety of fun games and activities were incorporated to keep the atmosphere lively and engaging. The students responded with enthusiasm, they actively participated in both the educational and recreational components of the sessions.
