NSS Special Camp: 10 Powerful Social Impact Activities at Kamaraj College
Introduction to the NSS Special Camp
The NSS Special Camp was organized by the National Service Scheme Unit 218 of Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi from 19 March 2026 to 25 March 2026 at Mukkani village in Thoothukudi district.
A total of 40 students actively participated in this NSS Special Camp, which aimed to promote social responsibility, community development, and practical learning through service activities.
The camp provided an opportunity for students to engage directly with rural communities and understand real-life social issues.
Objectives of the NSS Special Camp
The NSS Special Camp was conducted with clear objectives to develop social awareness and leadership skills among students.

Day 1 Activities
The NSS Special Camp began with an orientation session conducted by Programme Officer Dr. R. Karuppasamy, who explained the rules and objectives of the camp.
In the evening, the inauguration ceremony was held, and a guest from Mukkani village officially inaugurated the camp. The session emphasized the importance of community engagement and teamwork.
Day 2 Activities
On the second day of the NSS Camp, a medical camp was organized to serve the villagers. NSS students actively assisted the medical team.
The Red Cross provided a vehicle for the camp. In the evening, Mr. Venkatraman from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University addressed the students on the importance and benefits of NSS activities.
Day 3 Activities
The third day of the NSS Camp started with a meditation session conducted by Mr. Ramadoss from the Heartfulness Institute.
In the evening, Dr. Magesh delivered an awareness talk on Digital Literacy, helping students and villagers understand the importance of technology in modern life.
Day 4 Activities
The NSS Special Camp continued with yoga training led by Dr. Shanmuga Prabha, promoting physical and mental well-being.
Later, MBA students conducted personality development training. Dr. A. Veliappan spoke about personality development through social service, and Mrs. Vijayalakshmi conducted a session on life goals and objectives.
These sessions enriched the learning experience of the NSS Camp.
Day 5 Activities
On the fifth day of the NSS Special Camp, a cancer awareness and screening programme was organized by Nellai Cancer Care Centre.
Around 50 villagers benefited from the screening. Dr. Vanmathi distributed free books to school students and inaugurated a Shahid Diwas awareness rally.
These activities highlighted the social impact of the NSS Special Camp.
Day 6 Activities
The sixth day of the NSS Special Camp began with sapling plantation to promote environmental awareness.
A blood donation camp was conducted with the support of Thoothukudi Government Medical College Hospital. About 30 students donated blood.
In the evening, the valedictory function was held. Principal Dr. K. Bhanumathi delivered the valedictory address, followed by cultural events organized by NSS volunteers.
Day 7 Activities
The final day of the NSS Special Camp featured a free eye camp conducted with the support of Vasan Eye Care Hospital.
Around 60 villagers benefited from the camp. This activity marked a meaningful conclusion to the NSS Special Camp.
