NSS Rural Service Camp 2026 – Seven Days of Meaningful Community Engagement
The NSS Rural Service Camp 2026 was organized by Units 54, 56, and 145 of Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi from 22 February 2026 to 28 February 2026 between 7.30 a.m. and 05.00 p.m. The seven-day residential camp was conducted in the villages of South Kalangarai, North Kalangarai, and Periya Nayagiyapuram.
The primary objective of the NSS Rural Service Camp 2026 was to instill social responsibility among students while contributing meaningfully to rural development through education, health awareness, environmental initiatives, and community service.
Day 1 – Arrival, Orientation and Inauguration
Volunteers assembled at the college campus and travelled by bus to North Kalangarai village. Accommodation was arranged at the Community Welfare Hall. The students were introduced to the village environment and community members.
The inaugural function was held at 7.00 p.m. in the presence of village leaders Mr. Paramasivan and Mr. Muniyasamy, who assured their cooperation. Programme Officers guided the volunteers on discipline, teamwork, and structured execution of activities. The first day laid a solid foundation for the successful implementation of the NSS Rural Service Camp 2026.
Day 2 – Educational Outreach and School Interaction
The day began with meditation at 6.00 a.m., promoting focus and clarity. Volunteers visited Panchayat Union Primary Schools and Anganwadi centres in North Kalangarai and Periya Nayagiyapuram.
They provided academic support in:
