National Seminar: Advancing Food and Nutritional Security in India: Innovations, Challenges, and Future Direction – Economics Dept.

The ICSSR -SRC sponsored One day National Seminar on “Advancing Food and Nutritional Security in India: Innovations, Challenges, and Future Directions” organised by the PG & Research Department of Economics, Kamaraj College, Thoothukudi was held on 31st January 2025. The inaugural function started by 10.00 am with invocation prayer – Tamil Thai Vazhthu. The Honourable secretary of Kamaraj College Thiru P.S.P.K.J. Somasundaram @ Somu presided over the function by lighting the standing lamp along with other dignitaries. The Convener of the seminar Dr. (Lt. Cdr). Asok, Vice Principal & Head welcomed the dignitaries & delegates. Honourable Principal of Kamaraj College Dr.J.Poongodi delivered presidential address. The chief guests were introduced by Dr. A. Velkumar. The chief guest of the seminar Dr. Anitha V. Professor, Department of Economics, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. delivered Inaugural Address. In her speech, she mentioned that the topic of this conference is highly relevant to discuess about “Advancing Food and Nutritional Security in India: Innovations, Challenges, and Future Directions”. Dr. K. Ramesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics and Rural Development, Alagappa University, Karaikudi gave the Keynote address. The one day seminar provided a platform for students, scholars, academicians, and practitioners to engage in interaction on the prospects and challenges of Advancing Food and Nutritional Security in India. The seminar was chaired by G. Monikanda Prasad, Assistant Professor & Head I/C, Department Of Economics, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Tirunelveli, He firmly believes that the deliberations of this seminar would be useful. The inaugural session ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. A. Govindharaju, followed by it four technical sessions were held. The technical sessions were chaired by Dr.S.D.Shanthi, Assistant Professor, PG and Department of Economics, S.T.Hindu College, Nagercoil and Dr.D.Amutha, Head & Associate Professor, Department of Economics, St. Mary College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi. In these sessions 20 research papers were presented. Finally, the valedictory function start by 2.30 pm Dr.A.Annadurai, Associate Professor, Madras Christan College, Chennai and Dr.Aathykannan, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, Chennai, delivered chief guest address. The Chief Guests distributed the certificates to the paper presenters. About 70 scholars and student participants attendant the seminar. Finally the seminar Director Dr.V. Thangamayan proposed vote of thanks to all the contributors who are responsible for successful completion of this national seminar.
