Nasha Mukti Youth Campaign: Powerful Awareness Drive for 120 Participants

Nasha Mukti Youth Campaign was organised at Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi, on 20 September 2026 under the scheme “Nasha Mukti Yuva for Viksit Bharat.” The Youth Pledge and Signature Campaign was organised by NSS Unit 218 in association with My Bharat Kendra, Thoothukudi, with the participation of 120 students, NSS volunteers and guests.

The programme aimed to create awareness among young people about the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse and encourage them to contribute actively towards building a healthy, responsible and drug-free society. A Youth Pledge, Signature Campaign, Youth Interaction, Slogan-Telling Event and Thematic Street Play were conducted to communicate the message through participatory activities.

The programme brought together students, NSS volunteers, faculty members and guests with a common objective of promoting awareness against drug and substance abuse.

The initiative emphasised the important role young people can play in creating awareness among their peers and communities. It encouraged students to make responsible choices, adopt healthy lifestyles and support others in staying away from substance abuse.

The participation of 120 individuals demonstrated the collective commitment towards the objectives of the campaign.

Welcome Address

The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the dignitaries, faculty members, NSS volunteers and students.

Dr. R. Karuppasamy, Programme Officer, NSS Unit 218, delivered the Welcome Address.

He highlighted the importance of youth participation in creating awareness against drug and substance abuse and encouraged students to recognise their responsibility in spreading positive messages among their peers and in society.

Keynote Address by District Youth Officer

Mrs. Madhumitha, District Youth Officer, My Bharat Kendra, Thoothukudi, delivered the Keynote Address.

She explained the significance of involving young people in social awareness campaigns and encouraged students to become responsible ambassadors for a drug-free India.

Her address highlighted the potential of youth-led initiatives to influence peers positively and contribute to healthier communities.

Chief Guest Address

The Chief Guest, Thiru. C. Rajasekaran, Sanitary Officer, Thoothukudi City Municipal Corporation, addressed the gathering.

He emphasised the importance of maintaining a healthy environment and promoting responsible community life.

His address encouraged the participants to recognise the connection between individual responsibility, healthy choices and community well-being.

Interaction by the Special Guest

Thiru. Ramkumar, Sanitary Inspector, participated as the Special Guest and interacted with the students and NSS volunteers.

Youth Pledge for a Drug-Free India

A significant component of the Nasha Mukti Youth Campaign was the collective Youth Pledge.
