
Molecular Markers and its role in Microbial Identification
The Department of Microbiology (SF) has organized and conducted one day guest lecture on “ Molecular markers and its role in microbial identification” during 14.02.2020 at seminar hall, Kamaraj College, Thoothukudi. B.Sc, M.Sc Microbiology students and the faculty members of the Dept of Microbiology has attended the guest lecture. Dr. T. Leon Stephan Raj, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, St.Xavier’s College, Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli was the guest speaker. The guest lecture has begun with the guest speaker introduction by Dr.S.Abirami, HOD , Microbiology. The guest speaker delivered an excellent lecture on DNA marker technology such as RAPD, RFLP and AFLP and its role in identification of microbes. Moreover, he explains about the functioning of sophisticated equipments available at his institution and welcome students to avail the instrumentation facilities. The students actively interacted with the guest speaker and raised various queries related to DNA markers and guest speaker has explained all the queries with prompt and clear explanation with easily understable concepts. Dr.S.Abirami, HOD, Microbiology delivered vote of thanks.
