5 Powerful Insights from the Math AI Conference 2026

Math AI Conference 2026 Hosted at Kamaraj College

An international academic event titled Math AI Conference was successfully conducted on 06 March 2026 from 10.00 a.m. to 04.00 p.m. at the campus of Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi. The conference focused on the theme Environmental Sustainability with Mathematical and Computational Intelligence.

The Math AI Conference was jointly organized by the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Computer Science. The programme brought together academicians, researchers, and students from different states to discuss emerging research areas where mathematics, computational intelligence, and environmental sustainability intersect.

The conference provided an excellent platform for scholars to present research findings, exchange innovative ideas, and explore interdisciplinary collaborations that address environmental challenges using modern computational techniques.

Objectives of the Math AI Conference

The primary objective of the Math AI Conference was to promote interdisciplinary research in mathematics and artificial intelligence while addressing pressing global challenges related to environmental sustainability.

The conference aimed to:

  • Encourage research in mathematical modelling and computational intelligence
  • Promote innovative solutions for environmental sustainability
  • Provide a platform for scholars to present research work
  • Facilitate academic collaboration among institutions
  • Enhance students’ exposure to international research perspectives

Such conferences play an important role in strengthening the research culture within educational institutions and inspiring students to pursue advanced studies.

Keynote Address by International Scholar

The highlight of the Math AI Conference was the keynote address delivered by Dr. Sanjeeva Perera, Director of the Department of Mathematics at University of Colombo.

During his keynote speech, Dr. Perera discussed the role of mathematical modelling and computational intelligence in addressing complex environmental issues. He explained how modern algorithms and mathematical frameworks can be used to analyze environmental data, predict climate patterns, and develop sustainable solutions.

His lecture inspired students and researchers to explore interdisciplinary approaches combining mathematics, artificial intelligence, and environmental science.

Signing of Memorandum of Understanding

One of the significant outcomes of the Math AI Conference was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Kamaraj College and the University of Colombo.

This collaboration aims to strengthen academic cooperation in areas such as:

  • Joint research initiatives
  • Faculty and student exchange programmes
  • Collaborative academic events
  • Knowledge sharing in mathematics and computational intelligence

The MoU marks an important step in expanding the international academic network of the institution and creating new opportunities for research collaboration.

Welcome Address and Felicitation

The Math AI Conference began with a warm welcome address delivered by Dr. Joseph Peter, Head of the Department of Computer Science. In his speech, he welcomed the distinguished speakers, researchers, and participants who had gathered for the conference.

The felicitation address was delivered by the Principal, Dr. K. Bhanumathi, who highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary research in solving global challenges. She encouraged students to actively engage in research activities and take advantage of opportunities offered by academic conferences.

Special Lectures by Distinguished Speakers

The Math AI Conference also featured special lectures by renowned academicians who shared their insights into advanced research topics.

The distinguished speakers included:

  • Dr. Renuka Devi – Professor from the Central University
  • Dr. Spurgen Ratheash – Assistant Professor from Jain University

Their lectures covered topics related to mathematical analysis, computational techniques, and emerging research trends in artificial intelligence.

The presentations provided valuable learning opportunities for both students and researchers attending the conference.

Research Paper Presentations

A major segment of the Math AI Conference involved research paper presentations by students and scholars from various institutions. More than 450 participants from different states attended the conference and presented their research papers.

Participants contributed their research work through both online and offline modes. The papers covered a wide range of topics including mathematical modelling, data science, artificial intelligence, and environmental sustainability.

The research presentations created a vibrant academic environment where ideas were exchanged and constructive discussions took place.

Best Paper Awards

To recognize outstanding research contributions, the Math AI Conference included a Best Paper Award segment. Selected participants were honoured for presenting innovative and impactful research ideas.

These awards encouraged students and young researchers to pursue excellence in academic research and to contribute to solving real-world problems through mathematical and computational methods.

Participation of Students and Alumni

The conference witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, research scholars, and faculty members from various institutions. In addition to the academic community, several alumni of the institution also attended the event.

Their presence added value to the programme by strengthening the network between alumni and the institution.

Participation in events such as the Math AI Conference helps students develop critical thinking, research skills, and exposure to global academic trends.
