Kambar Literary Lecture at Kamaraj College
The Department of Tamil and the Kamaraj College Arts and Literary Association jointly organised a programme on 25 September 2026. The event included an MoU programme and a special lecture on Tamil literature.
Mrs. Priya Santhanakrishnan, B.E. (ECE), a spiritual speaker, delivered the lecture. She spoke on the theme “கம்பராம் புலவரைக் கருத்திருத்துவோம்” and discussed Rama’s qualities and the virtues of youth.
The Kambar Literary Lecture brought Tamil students and faculty members together for a discussion of literary ideas and values. It gave students an opportunity to listen to a speaker from outside the department and reflect on the themes presented in her address.
Programme begins with Tamil Thai Vazhthu
The programme began with Tamil Thai Vazhthu. This marked the opening of the gathering organised by the Department of Tamil and the college’s Arts and Literary Association.
Thamilarasi, a third-year undergraduate Tamil student, delivered the welcome address. She welcomed the guest speaker, faculty members, and fellow students to the event.
First-year postgraduate Tamil student Riyani served as the compere. She guided the programme through its different parts and helped maintain its flow.
The students’ roles formed an important part of the event. By welcoming the audience and conducting the proceedings, they gained experience in speaking at a formal college programme.
Presidential address by the Head of Tamil
Dr. G. Thilagavathy, Head of the Department of Tamil, delivered the presidential address. She presided over the programme before the special lecture began.
The Kambar Literary Lecture formed part of a gathering jointly arranged by the department and the Arts and Literary Association. It created a space for students to engage with Tamil literature through a spoken presentation.
Literary programmes can add to classroom learning by allowing students to hear different ways of approaching a text or a theme. They also encourage students to listen closely and consider how a speaker presents an idea to an audience.

Mrs. Priya Santhanakrishnan delivered the special address on “கம்பராம் புலவரைக் கருத்திருத்துவோம்.” Her speech focused on Rama’s qualities and the virtues associated with youth.
The Kambar Literary Lecture invited students to consider those themes through a literary discussion. It connected the speaker’s chosen subject with questions about character and the years in which young people shape their outlook.

Faculty coordinate the programme
Dr. M. Selvi, Professor in the Department of Tamil, and Dr. Sangeetha, Professor in the Department of Microbiology, coordinated the event.
Their coordination brought together the department, the Arts and Literary Association, the guest speaker, and the participating students. All professors of the Department of Tamil attended the programme.
The joint effort gave students an opportunity to hear a special address while also seeing how a college literary event is organised. Faculty and student participation supported the proceedings from the opening to the closing.
