International Seminar on Bio-Resources for Sustainable Utilization – Dept. of Botany & Farm Science

The PG Department of Botany and Farm Science successfully organized one day International Seminar entitled as “Bio-resources for Sustainable Utilization” at Seminar Hall on 29.10.2024 (Tuesday). The international seminar was inaugurated by our Principal Dr. J. Poongodi and her felicitation was followed by the felicitations of our vice principals Dr. A. Ashok and Dr. A. Arunachala Rajan and they highlighted the importance of the seminar. Our respected Principal honored the resource person with shield and our respected vice principal Dr. A. Ashok and Dr. A. Arunachala Rajan honored the resource persons with shawls. Then Dr. T. Ponrathy, Head of Department of Botany delivered welcome address. The resource persons were Dr. C. Ravinder Singh, Chief Scientist and Mr. Murali Krishna, Junior Scientist, Aakash Plantations L..L.C. Dubai, U A E., The first Session’s Resource Person Dr. C. Ravinder Singh delivered a wonderful lecture about available sources of Bio-resources at present and their market values and future demand explained simply and lovely. After that MOU wad signed between Department of Botany and Farm Science and Ruellia Bio Innovations, Sankarankovil, Tenkasi District. Then Mr. Murali Krishna delivered a valuable and useful talk on current designing pattern of organic farming and their utilization and achievements. Before lunch, tree plantations have done successfully in the Farm Science field area and planted Guava, Mango and Amla saplings with resource persons, faculty members and students. The Second Session started with our most respected Secretary Mr. P.S.P.K.J. Somu and he honored the Resource Person Dr. Allwin Loveson, Associate Professor, Department of Agricultural Entomology, TNAU, Killikuam with shawl and our respected Principal honored with shield. The faculty of Botany Dr. Muthu Sheeba delivered welcome address . The resource person gave a speech about insects, butterfly, moth and Honey Bee. He also shared valuable insights on role of pesticide activities in the current environment. The valediction started at 3.00 pm. 50 students participated from various universities like Anna University, Bharthiyar University, Tamilnadu agricultural University and totally 140 participants participated in this seminar . Our Secretary and Resource Persons issued certificates to the participants from various institutions, colleges, industrial persons, farm people and research center. The programme came to an end with National Anthem.
