
International Conference: Recent Innovation and Emerging Trends in Life Science – Botany & Farm Science Dept.
The PG Department of Botany & Farm Science at Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi, organized a one-day International Conference titled “Recent Innovation and Emerging Trends in Life Science” on 24th February 2025 at Smart Hall. The inaugural function started by invocation prayer – Tamil Thai Vazhthu. The lighting of the lamp with Honourable secretary of Kamaraj College Thiru. P.S.P.K.J. Somu and all dignitaries, followed by a welcome address by Dr. T. Ponrathy, Head & Assistant Professor of Botany, presidential address by Dr. J. Poongodi, Principal and felicitation address by Dr.A.Asok, Vice-Principal of Kamaraj College.The inaugural vote of thanks proposed by Dr. M. Muthusheeba. The first session resources person introduced by Dr. P. Pounraj. First session Dr. Ramasamy Rajesh Kumar, Dept of Science and Engineering, Novel Global Community Education Foundation (NGCEF), New South Wales, Australia covered by the topic is “Nuclear Technology for Sustainable Pest Control and Crop Management: Advancing the UN SDGs in Agriculture and Public Health”.The second session resources person introduced by Mrs. G. Bhavani Assistant Professor of Farm Science. Second session Dr. C.Ravinder Singh, Chief Scientist, Research & Innovation, Dubai, U. A. E. is covered by the topic is Bamboo, multipurpose Bioresource.The Third session resources person introduced by Dr. R. Premely, Assistant Professor of Botany. Third session Dr. U. Ramesh, Assistant Professor & Head (i/c), Dept. of Molecular Biology, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai covered by the topic is “Seeds of Change: Protecting Plant Diversity for Futures”. Dr.T.Leon Stephan Raj, Assistant Professor of Botany, St. Xavier’s College, Palayamkottai act as a offline chair person and Dr.Flora, Assistant Professor of Botany, St.Mary’s College, Thoothukudi act as a online chair person. The conference also included the release of an abstract book with ISBN No., honoring of dignitaries and resource persons, and a valedictory session with a welcome address Dr. P. Benjamin Jeya Rathna Kumar and vote of thanks proposed by Dr. M. Santhiya Selvam. The conference saw participation from over 250 delegates, with 20 offline and 50 online oral presentations, and concluded with the distribution of certificates and the announcement of the best oral presentation prize winner.
