International Chess Day Celebrations – Chess Club

Inter-departmental Chess Competitions were organised by the Kamaraj College Chess Club in Kamaraj College, as a part of the centenary celebrations of International chess day. The tournament was registered for FIDE 100 Guinness World Record attempt. 26 teams from both Aided and Unaided participated in the event. The participants practised for the event for two days( 18th and 19th July).The competitions were conducted on 20th July 2024. The prize distribution was held on International Chess day (20th July). Mr. P.S.P.K.J.Somu, was the chief guest of the function. The Valedictory function had the backing up of all the chess participants from various departments. Economics department ( Aided)and Commerce department from the Unaided stream emerged as the Winner and Runner respectively in the Men Category. Commerce department from Aided stream and Chemistry department from aided stream emerged as Winner and Runner respectively in the Women category. Top 4 teams in both Men and women category were honoured with prizes and certificates by the chief guest. The glimpses of this event is presented by the players of Kamaraj chess Club.
