Institutional Visit – Microbiology Dept.

PG and Research Department of Microbiology was organized a ‘one day the Institutional Visit’. A total of 48 students from III Bsc Microbiology along with 2 staff members went on an industrial visit to CSIR- CSMCRI (Central salt and marine chemicals research institute) Mandapam on 29.03.2023. Dr.R.Dinesh kumar, Senior scientist explained about various seaweed species and their culture techniques. They generously allowed the students to visit their seaweed culture lab facility. Students learned in detail about the collection and culture techniques of different seaweed such as Red, Green and brown seaweed. Moreover, the industrial applications of seaweed products like agar and carageenan was explained clearly to the students by the scientist.
