Institutional and Laboratory Visit – Microbiology Dept.

The PG & Research Department of Microbiology organized the Institutional and Lab visit for PG students to Fisheries College & Research Institute – Thoothukudi, Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) – Thoothukudi, Regional Forensic Laboratory – Tirunelveli, Agricultural College & Research Institute – Killikulam and Government Horticultural Farm – Vallanadu on 19th & 20th October 2022.
Dr. R. Shalini, Assistant Professor, Department of Fish Quality Assurance and Management has explained the procedure for fish quality analysis and the role of instruments in fish quality assurance. The students explored their practical knowledge. Dr. L. Ranjith, Scientist, CMFRI clearly explained the culture method of pearl. The Toxicology, Narcotics, and Biology Division of the Regional Forensic Laboratory, Tirunelveli were observed by students. Mrs. Vijaya Latha, Deputy Director explained the role of Biology in the Forensic lab. Dr. B. Jeberlin Prabina, Associate Professor, Faculty of Soil Science, Agriculture College, Killikulam explained the status of Algal Biotechnology and Biofertilizers. Mr. Praveen, Horticulturist, Government Horticultural Farm explained the vermicomposting, Azolla cultivation, and layering methods of trees. The students actively interacted and clarified their doubts with concerned persons. The students gave fruitful feedback about this visit.
