Industrial Visit: Surya Sea Food Exports, Tharuvaikulam – Microbiology Dept.

On 29th January 2025, the Department of Microbiology (SF) at Kamaraj College (Autonomous) organized an enriching industrial visit to SURYA SEA FOOD EXPORTS, Tharuvaikulam, for III Bsc Microbiology students. The visit was designed to provide students with exposure to the Lobster receiving, Growth, Storage, Incubation, Pre-processing, Processing, Grading, Separation, Quality checking and Lab analysis. During the visit, the students were given a live demonstration of the entire process. Experts of sea food industry gave the detailed explanation of each step for the students. The session was highly interactive, allowing students to actively engage, ask questions and clarify their understanding about the mentioned process. The students were accompanied by a faculty member, Dr. R. Amster Regin Lawrence, Assistant Professor of Microbiology, who guided them throughout the visit and ensured a fruitful learning experience. This hands-on experience bridged the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, equipping students with valuable insights.The visit also emphasized the importance of Marine animals. The students returned inspired and equipped with practical knowledge, ready to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the Microbiology.
