Industrial Visit: Hi – Rich Chocolate Factory, Kodaikanal – Microbiology Dept.

On 4th February 2025, the Department of Microbiology (SF) at Kamaraj College (Autonomous) organized an enriching industrial visit to Hi – Rich Chocolate Factory, Kodaikanal for II Msc Microbiology students. The visit was designed to provide students with exposure to the Cocoa Bean Sourcing, Roasting and Grinding,Mixing and Conching,Tempering, Molding and Packaging, Storage, Incubation, Quality checking and Lab analysis. During the visit, the students were given a live demonstration of the entire process. Experts at the industry detailed each step for the students. The session was highly interactive, allowing students to actively engage, ask questions and clarify their understanding about the mentioned process. The students were accompanied by a faculty member, Dr. S. Murugan, Assistant Professor of Microbiology, who guided them throughout the visit and ensured a fruitful learning experience. This hands-on experience bridged the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, equipping students with valuable insights.The visit to the chocolate factory was both educational and enjoyable. The students gained a deeper understanding of the chocolate-making process, from bean to bar, and learned about the company’s efforts to ensure sustainability and quality. It was a well-organized and informative experience that highlighted the passion and dedication behind every piece of chocolate produced. The students returned inspired and equipped with practical knowledge, ready to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the Microbiology.
