7 Inspiring ICCU VII Highlights – Ultrasonics Competition at Kamaraj College
Introduction to ICCU VII
The Intra-collegiate Competition on Ultrasonics VII (ICCU VII) was organized on 02 March 2026 from 10.00 a.m. to 05.00 p.m. at the College Campus of Kamaraj College (Autonomous). The programme was conducted by the PG & Research Department of Physics in association with the Ultrasonic Society of India (USI), New Delhi – USI Students Chapter III.
The event was organised as part of the celebration of National Science Day, which commemorates the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir C.V. Raman. Every year, the Physics Department conducts academic and innovative activities to promote scientific curiosity and research awareness among students.
The year 2026 marked the seventh consecutive edition of ICCU, reflecting the department’s commitment to nurturing young minds through science-based competitions and research-oriented activities.
Students from several departments enthusiastically participated in this event and demonstrated their scientific thinking, creativity, and innovative spirit. The programme also provided an excellent platform for students to present their ideas and connect science with practical applications in everyday life.
Objectives of the ICCU VII Event
The primary objective of ICCU VII was to encourage students to explore the fascinating world of ultrasonics and basic science concepts. In addition, the programme aimed to create awareness about the importance of research and innovation among undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The event also focused on the following goals:
- Promoting scientific curiosity and analytical thinking among students.
- Encouraging students to develop innovative solutions for real-life problems.
- Providing a platform for students to present research ideas and creative projects.
- Enhancing teamwork, communication, and presentation skills.
- Motivating students to explore careers in science and research.
Through these objectives, ICCU VII successfully contributed to strengthening the academic culture within the college.
Events Conducted During ICCU VII
To make the programme engaging and intellectually stimulating, several competitions were organised. Each event allowed students to demonstrate different aspects of their knowledge, creativity, and scientific understanding.
The competitions conducted during ICCU VII included:
- Paper Presentation – Students presented research-oriented papers related to scientific themes.
- Quiz Competition – A challenging quiz based on science and technology tested the participants’ knowledge.
- Collage Competition – Students creatively expressed scientific concepts through visual art.
- Innovative Expo – Participants showcased innovative projects and working models addressing real-world challenges.
- Photography Competition – Students captured scientific ideas and natural phenomena through photography.
These competitions not only encouraged healthy academic competition but also enabled students to develop critical thinking and creative expression.
Student Participation and Enthusiasm
A total of 22 teams from different departments of the college participated in the various events conducted as part of ICCU VII. The participants displayed remarkable enthusiasm and actively engaged in each competition.
Students demonstrated their talents by presenting innovative ideas based on fundamental scientific principles. Their presentations and projects clearly reflected the depth of understanding they had developed in their respective fields of study.
One of the most exciting segments of the programme was the Innovative Expo, where students exhibited working models and prototypes addressing real-life challenges. Several teams presented eco-friendly project ideas, focusing on sustainability and environmental protection.
Among these projects, special attention was drawn to eco-ride concepts and electric vehicles (e-vehicles). These demonstrations highlighted the importance of renewable energy solutions and the role of science in building a sustainable future.
Such initiatives showed how young minds are capable of applying theoretical knowledge to solve practical problems.
Prize Distribution and Achievements
At the end of the competitions, the judges evaluated the performances and selected the winners based on creativity, scientific relevance, presentation skills, and innovation.
The top three prizes were awarded for each event. In addition, all the participants received participation certificates in recognition of their active involvement.
The overall championship trophies were awarded as follows:
- Overall Winner Trophy 2026: Department of Computer Science (SF)
- Overall Runner-Up Trophy: Department of Microbiology
The achievements of these departments reflected their strong teamwork and dedication. The winners were applauded for their outstanding performance and innovative ideas.
