Guest Lecture: The Role of Transport System in Rural Development – Economics & Public Administration Dept.

The Departments of Economics (SF) & Public Administration at Kamaraj College Autonomous, Thoothukudi, organized a guest lecture titled “The Role of Transport System in Rural Development” on 27th January 2025. The event was held at 10:30 AM in the Seminar Hall, GJ Block. The resource person, Mrs. M. Kalaivani, B.Tech, General Manager of AN Transport, Thoothukudi, spoke about the importance of transport systems in improving rural areas. She explained how better transport helps people access education, healthcare, and markets, improving their quality of life. She also shared examples of how transport systems can create jobs and support economic growth in villages. The session began with a welcome address by Dr. M. Chandra of Economics (SF). Dr. S. Raman, Head of the Department, introduced the resource person. Dr. A. Arunachalarajan, Vice Principal honored the resource person. The students interacted with the speaker, asking questions and learning about the challenges in rural development. The event ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. E. Vishwa of III B.A. Economics (SF). The session was informative and inspired students to think about improving rural development through better transport systems. The total number of students participation for this session is 120.
