Guest Lecture: English Language Teaching – English Dept.

The department of English, Kamaraj college (Autonomous) organised a Guest Lecture on English Language Teaching in the seminar hall of G J Block on 24th February 2025. The PG students attended the lecture session. Mrs. P.Muthumari, Research Scholar, Department of English delivered her speech under the title “English Language Teaching”. She described about several theories such as Gardner’s theory, Plato’s problem, Cartesian thoughts and philosophies, Locke’s Tabula rasa theory, B.F. Skinner’s operant conditioning theory, Chomsky’s language acquisition device, Schumann’s model and at last Krashen’s Monitor theory. She raised many questions towards students. The main purpose of this speech is to explore the language models and language acquisition theories.  The session was helpful for the students to know about the philosophies and theories along with cognition.
