The Department of Commerce (Self-Finance), Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi, organized a highly relevant and engaging guest lecture titled “Balancing Paychecks and Pressure: Financial and Workplace Challenges of Generation Z” on Tuesday, 20 January 2026, from 10.30 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. at the Golden Jubilee Block. The programme was conducted to prepare students for the realities of modern professional life, with a special focus on financial responsibility and workplace readiness.

This academic initiative aimed to provide students with practical exposure to contemporary workplace expectations and financial decision-making in an increasingly competitive environment.

Inaugural Session and Welcome Address

The programme commenced with the traditional Tamil Thai Vazhthu, setting a respectful and dignified tone. This was followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Ms. B. Maria Snowlin of II B.Com A. In her address, she highlighted the growing importance of understanding workplace realities and financial discipline for young professionals entering today’s job market.

She emphasized that academic knowledge alone is not sufficient, and that students must also develop emotional resilience, adaptability, and practical financial awareness to succeed.

Honouring the Chief Guest and Presidential Address

The Chief Guest, Dr. Vishnupriya Kannan, Proprietor of VPK Foods, a leading manufacturer of Kovilpatti peanut candy and snacks, was formally honoured by:

  • Dr. V. Narayani, Organizing Secretary of the programme
