Introduction

The Department of Economics, Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi, organised the Freshers Day Celebration on 31 July 2026 at Kamarajar Kalvi Arangam to extend a warm welcome to the newly admitted first year B.A. Economics students.

The programme aimed to help the freshers feel comfortable in their new academic environment while encouraging interaction with faculty members and senior students. The event marked the beginning of an exciting and memorable college journey for the newcomers.

Welcome Session

The programme commenced with the Welcome Address delivered by Lekhavathi S., II M.A. Economics.

The event was efficiently compered by Antony Ashiya M., II B.A. Economics, who ensured the smooth conduct of the programme and kept the audience actively engaged throughout the celebration.

Motivational Address

Dr. A. Velkumar, Head of the Department of Economics, warmly welcomed the first year students and addressed the gathering.

He encouraged the students to participate actively in academic, co curricular and extracurricular activities and advised them to make effective use of every opportunity available during their college life. He wished the freshers success and encouraged them to strive for academic excellence and personal growth.

Cultural Performances

The programme featured colourful cultural performances presented by the students of the Department of Economics.

The celebration began with a vibrant Group Dance performed by the III B.A. Economics students, followed by a melodious Piano Song presented by Vignesh E., I B.A. Economics. The performances entertained the audience and created a joyful atmosphere.

A variety of fun games and interactive activities were organised exclusively for the first year students.
