Four Days: Outreach Program – Dept. of Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science (SF), Kamaraj College recently organized a four-day outreach program from July 15, 2024, to July 19, 2024, aimed at imparting basic computer skills to students from 6th to 8th standard at Corporation Middle School, N.B.K. Street, Thoothukudi. This initiative involved 6 students serving as trainers, teaching 50 school students the fundamentals of MS Office applications and Scratch programming. The program covered a wide range of topics, including the basics of computer hardware and software, creating and formatting documents in MS Word and developing simple projects using Scratch. The sessions were interactive, with hands-on activities and group projects that enhanced the learning experience. The school students showed great enthusiasm and actively participated, while the school’s staff expressed appreciation for the well-structured content and delivery. Notably, the school requested additional classes in the future, highlighting the program’s success and the demand for continued engagement. This outreach initiative not only boosted the students’ confidence and skills in using technology but also strengthened the bond between Kamaraj College and the local community, paving the way for future educational collaborations.
