Fireless Cooking Competition: 7 Creative Healthy Dishes by CS Students
Introduction
The Department of Computer Science (SF), Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi, successfully organised an Intra Departmental Fireless Cooking Competition on 31 July 2026 at the C.V. Raman Computer Science Block.
The competition aimed to encourage students to demonstrate their culinary creativity, teamwork, presentation skills and awareness of healthy food preparation without the use of fire. The programme provided an enjoyable platform for students to combine innovation with nutrition while promoting healthy eating habits.
Creative Participation by Students
A total of 19 teams enthusiastically participated in the competition.
The participants displayed remarkable creativity by preparing a wide variety of nutritious and visually attractive dishes. Most of the teams presented more than 10 different dishes, showcasing their planning, teamwork and innovative ideas in preparing healthy recipes without cooking.
Judging and Evaluation
The competition was judged by Dr. N. Paulraj, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce (SF).
The judge was warmly welcomed and honoured by Mr. Karuppasamy, III B.Sc. Computer Science (B). During the evaluation, Dr. N. Paulraj carefully assessed each dish based on taste, nutritional value, creativity, presentation and overall quality.
He appreciated the outstanding efforts of the participants and expressed his admiration for their innovative approach to fireless cooking. He also shared valuable suggestions to further improve a few recipes and encouraged students to continue developing healthy culinary practices.
Encouraging Innovation and Teamwork
The competition created an exciting and energetic learning environment where students worked together to prepare creative dishes using fresh and healthy ingredients.
The event strengthened teamwork, communication, planning and problem solving skills while encouraging students to explore nutritious food preparation techniques without the use of fire.
