Field Visit: SPIC, Thoothukudi – Chemistry Dept.

The PG and Research Department of Chemistry arranged one-day (10/11/25) field visit to Spic to observe safety rope and fire extinguisher operations. The visit aimed to provide us with hands-on knowledge and insights into the effective management of workplace safety. The team demonstrated how to properly anchor and secure ropes to prevent accidents. We witnessed a live demonstration of fire extinguisher usage, including the PASS method (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep). We gained practical knowledge and appreciation for the importance of workplace safety. We will apply the lessons learned to improve our own safety protocols and procedures. More than 40 students have benefitted by this visit. Dr.N.Chandra Lekha and Dr.K.Krishnaveni accompanied the students on the visit.
