Powerful 7-Day Faculty Development Programme on AI-Based Teaching and Research
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi, organized a one-week Faculty Development Programme titled “Towards Academic Excellence Using AI-Based Teaching & Research” from 01.06.2026 to 08.06.2026. The programme was designed to strengthen the academic, digital, research, and professional competencies of faculty members in the evolving higher education environment. With Artificial Intelligence rapidly influencing teaching methodologies, research practices, publication processes, and learner engagement, the programme served as an excellent platform for educators to update their knowledge and acquire practical skills relevant to modern academia.
Day 1 – Smart Classrooms: Digital Tools, LMS and E-Content Creation
The inaugural session of the Faculty Development Programme commenced with Tamil Thai Vazhthu followed by the traditional Lighting of the Kuthuvilakku. Dr. S. Rajalekshmi delivered the Welcome Address and warmly welcomed the participants and resource person. Dr. K. Bhanumathi, Principal, delivered the Presidential Address and emphasized the significance of AI-supported teaching and the need for continuous professional development among educators. Dr. K. Anitha delivered the Felicitation Address, while Dr. A. Arunachala Rajan, Vice Principal, honoured the resource person.
The technical session was handled by Dr. P. Muthupandi, Associate Professor, Department of Education, CDOE, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, on the topic “Smart Classrooms: Digital Tools, LMS and E-Content Creation.” The session highlighted the effective use of Learning Management Systems, digital classroom tools, and e-content creation techniques to enhance teaching-learning practices. More than 120 faculty members actively participated and benefited from the interactive session. The day concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. G. Subbulakshmi.
Day 2 – Transforming Higher Education through Artificial Intelligence
The second day of the Faculty Development Programme was conducted on 02.06.2026. The session began with a welcome address by Mrs. Machado Shena John, followed by the Chief Guest Felicitation delivered by Dr. K. Kalyani.
The resource session was delivered by Dr. K. Thangavel, Assistant Professor of Education, Thiagarajar College of Preceptors (Aided), Madurai. He discussed the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in higher education and explained how AI can support personalized learning, assessment, academic administration, and educational innovation. Faculty members gained valuable insights into the integration of AI technologies within contemporary teaching and learning environments. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. S. Jenifa Sabeena.
Day 3 – Bloom’s Taxonomy and AI-Enabled Teaching Strategies
The third day of the Faculty Development Programme commenced with a welcome address by Mrs. Machado Shena John, followed by the Chief Guest Felicitation by Dr. R. Balasaraswathy.
The resource session was handled by Dr. S. Lenin, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. The session focused on Bloom’s Taxonomy and the effective integration of AI-enabled teaching strategies to improve learning outcomes. The speaker demonstrated how educators can align AI tools with cognitive learning objectives and develop innovative classroom activities that promote critical thinking and student engagement. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. S. Gowri.
Day 4 – Innovation, Research Funding and Professional Excellence
The fourth day of the Faculty Development Programme was held on 04.06.2026. Dr. J. Rajaselvi delivered the welcome address, and Ms. S. Aswathi offered the Chief Guest Felicitation.
The resource session was delivered by Dr. V. Arulmurugan, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Commerce, Pondicherry University, Karaikal Campus. He provided detailed insights into innovation practices, research funding opportunities, project proposal writing, and strategies for achieving professional excellence in higher education. The session motivated faculty members to explore funded research projects and contribute effectively to academic advancement through innovation and scholarly activities. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. S. Gowri.
Day 5 – Generative AI for Research, Publications and Data Analysis
The fifth day of the Faculty Development Programme was conducted on 05.06.2026. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. N. Syed Ali Fathima and the Chief Guest Felicitation by Dr. S. Akila.
The technical session was handled by Dr. B. Muthu Pandian, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, School of Commerce and Business Management, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur. He explained the growing applications of Generative AI in research, academic publications, literature review, manuscript preparation, and data analysis. The session provided practical exposure to AI-powered tools and demonstrated their role in enhancing research productivity while maintaining academic integrity. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. P. Jeniston.
Day 6 – The Neuro-Architecture of Teaching
The sixth day of the Faculty Development Programme was held on 06.06.2026. Dr. M. Rajee delivered the welcome address, followed by the Chief Guest Felicitation by Dr. P. MuthuMari.
The resource session was conducted by Mr. C. Sakthi Vignesh, Life Coach and Mindset Architect, Market Monk – Business School, Thoothukudi. He presented an engaging session on “The Neuro-Architecture of Teaching,” highlighting brain-based learning principles, cognitive engagement techniques, mindset development, emotional intelligence, and innovative teaching approaches. The session encouraged faculty members to create meaningful learning experiences and improve classroom effectiveness through scientific understanding of learning behaviour. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. J. Lovely Shilpha.
Day 7 – Work-Life Balance and Professional Effectiveness among Educators
The seventh and final day of the Faculty Development Programme was conducted on 08.06.2026. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. M. Reede Albin Mary, followed by the Chief Guest Felicitation delivered by Ms. M. Shanmuga Priya.
The resource session was handled by Dr. D. Kumaresan, Professor and Director, School of Commerce, K.S.R. College of Arts and Science for Women, Tiruchengode. He discussed the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between personal well-being and professional responsibilities. The session emphasized stress management, time management, emotional wellness, and productivity enhancement for educators. Faculty members gained valuable perspectives on sustaining professional effectiveness while ensuring personal growth and well-being.
Valedictory Function and Programme Outcome
Following the technical session, the Valedictory Address was delivered by Dr. K. Bhanumathi, Principal. She appreciated the enthusiastic participation of faculty members throughout the Faculty Development Programme and highlighted the importance of continuous learning and professional development in the era of Artificial Intelligence.
Certificates were distributed to all participants in recognition of their successful completion of the programme. Ms. T. Anandha Valli proposed the Vote of Thanks, and Dr. S. Jinduja expressed her gratitude to the management, resource persons, organizing committee members, and participants for their wholehearted support and contribution to the successful completion of the programme.
