Faculty Development Programme – IQAC

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Kamaraj College organized a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) in Higher Education on March 29, 2025. The event aimed to highlight the relevance and integration of IKS in modern academia and explore its role in promoting holistic education.

The Chief guest, Dr. B. Geetha, Assistant Professor of Sociology, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, has given a talk on the topic, “Integrating Indian Knowledge Systems in Modern Academia – Prospects and Challenges”. She provided insights into the challenges of embedding IKS into the existing academic framework and highlighted collaborative efforts to preserve and promote indigenous knowledge.

Sri V. V. Balasubramanian, Advocate & Writer, Yogic Lifestyle Advisor, shared valuable insights into yogic practices and their practical applications in daily life, stressing the need to incorporate yoga principles into educational practices for overall well-being.

Smt. R. Thangalakshmi, Yoga Coordinator, Vivekananda Kendra, discussed the role of yoga in enhancing physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The event was graced by the presence of the principal (i/c) Dr. A. Asok, Vice Principals Dr. K. Banumathy and Dr. A. Arunachala Rajan, whose guidance ensured its smooth execution.

The programme was successfully coordinated by FDP coordinators Dr. M. Ummu Jasmine and Dr. M. Selvi, with the support of IQAC Coordinator Dr. M. Gethsiyal Augusta and Assistant IQAC Coordinator Mrs. S. Jinduja. More than 200 faculty members have benefited the need for integrating traditional knowledge with modern education to create a more balanced and value-driven academic environment.
