Eye Donation Awareness Programme – English Dept., NSS & YRC

The department of English along with NSS unit no.: 216 and YRC organized an Eye Donation Awareness Programme on 20.02.2023 at 9:30 am in the GJ Block Seminar Hall. The resource person of the awareness programme was Dr. J. Ganesh, World record achiever in eye donation, Founding Chairman of Sivakasi Bright Vision charitable trust and the Charter president of Lions Club of Sivakasi. Deepak Suvitson of I M.A. English hosted the event. The welcome address was delivered by Malik Batcha of II B.A. English. Kanagalakshmi of III B.A. English felicitated the chief guest.
The resource person started the session with a video clipping on Eye Donation: Awareness and Significance. In order to appreciate the efforts and initiative taken by our college our chief guest on behalf of Bright Vision trust and Lions Club presented a memento to our Vice Principal, Dr. A. Arunachala Rajan. Further, he explained and elaborated on the process and the procedures for donating eyes. He also spoke about the need of youth’s involvement and participation to give awareness to the people and to eradicate the false beliefs and notions about eye donation. The entire session was highly interactive. Our students were benefitted by the informative facts he rendered. The resource person asked many question to the students related to the session and also provided many gifts to the students as the token of appreciation. Mrs. K. Kalyani, NSS programme coordinator of Unit no.: 216 and Dr. S. Akila, YRC coordinator, Department of English distributed the gifts to the students.
The session turned into a positive one. The students of the department of English gave positive feedbacks of the session. All the participants including faculty members were benefitted as well as nurtured with the fruitful ideas reflected in the awareness programme. Finally, the session came to an end with the vote of thanks delivered by Amala Paul Jothi of II M.A. English.
