Engaging Language Enrichment Session – Commerce Department
The Department of Commerce at Kamaraj College hosted a transformative English language enrichment session titled “English Proficiency in Action: Real World Language Mastery” on 16th July 2025. Tailored specifically for first-year students, the session aimed to enhance English language proficiency through real-world, practical communication techniques.
The workshop was led by Dr. Snow Reena, a renowned educator and language training expert, who brought her passion and expertise to the seminar. Her energetic and student-focused approach created an environment where learners felt empowered to engage and participate actively.
Designed as a highly interactive English workshop, the session included a variety of language-building activities such as word association chains, vocabulary taboo games, role plays, and tongue twisters. These activities targeted the improvement of spoken English fluency, vocabulary application, and pronunciation accuracy, all within a supportive, fun-filled atmosphere.
What made the session truly impactful was its emphasis on the real-world application of English. Students practiced spontaneous communication through simulated real-life scenarios, equipping them with the confidence needed for both academic discussions and professional interactions.
The enthusiastic student participation reflected the effectiveness of the session. Many attendees shared that the experience helped them overcome the fear of speaking in English, transforming their attitude towards the language. The session also received glowing feedback for its focus on practical language use and for breaking down psychological barriers related to communication.
This successful event marks a strong step in the college’s ongoing commitment to promoting communication skills development and preparing students to thrive in competitive, English-speaking environments. With more language proficiency workshops planned in the future, the Department of Commerce continues to support holistic education and student empowerment.
