1 Powerful E Resources FDP Boosts Academic Excellence at Kamaraj College

The Library, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi, successfully organised a Faculty Development Programme on the theme “E Resources for Academic Learning” on 03 January 2026. The programme was held from 10.00 a.m. to 01.00 p.m. at the Seminar Hall, AMMS Ganesan Nadar Block.

The E Resources FDP was designed to strengthen faculty competency in accessing, managing, and effectively utilising digital resources for teaching, learning, and research excellence in higher education.

Objectives of the Faculty Development Programme

The primary objective of the programme was to equip faculty members with updated knowledge and practical skills related to electronic academic resources. The programme focused on:

  • Enhancing awareness of digital library systems
  • Effective utilisation of online research databases
  • Improving academic and research productivity
  • Encouraging the use of e resources in teaching and learning

The FDP aligned with the institution’s quality initiatives and supported the academic goals outlined by the IQAC.

Welcome Address and Programme Coordination

The programme commenced with a warm and cordial welcome address by Dr. M. Ummu Jasmine, FDP Coordinator, who welcomed the dignitaries, resource person, faculty members, and participants. She highlighted the growing importance of digital resources in modern academic environments and the role of faculty members in adopting technology-driven learning tools.

The programme was efficiently coordinated by:

  • Dr. M. Gethsiyal Augusta, IQAC Coordinator
  • Dr. S. Jinduja, Assistant IQAC Coordinator

Expert Session by the Resource Person

The FDP featured an expert session by Dr. S. Dhanavandan, Deputy Librarian (UGC Level 14), Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur. He served as the resource person for the programme and delivered an insightful and highly informative session on e resources for academic learning.

During his session, Dr. Dhanavandan provided detailed explanations on:

  • Accessing scholarly databases and journals
  • Managing digital library platforms
  • Effective literature search strategies
  • Utilising institutional subscriptions for research
  • Enhancing academic output using e resources

His session offered practical insights into the evolving digital academic ecosystem and emphasized the importance of information literacy among faculty members.

The resource person elaborated on the role of digital libraries in supporting teaching, learning, and research. He introduced faculty members to various national and international research databases and explained best practices for accessing peer-reviewed journals and scholarly publications.

Faculty members were encouraged to explore authentic academic platforms such as: INFLIBNET Centre

and global research resources including: Google Scholar

The session highlighted how effective utilisation of e resources contributes to improved curriculum delivery, research publications, and academic excellence.

Honouring the Resource Person

As a mark of appreciation for his valuable contribution, Principal Dr. K. Bhanumathi honoured Dr. S. Dhanavandan with a shield. The honour acknowledged his expertise, dedication, and commitment to academic development.

The programme was further enriched when Vice Principal Dr. S. Senthil felicitated the resource person with a shawl, expressing gratitude for sharing his knowledge and experience with the faculty members.

Faculty Participation and Engagement

The E Resources FDP witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 120 faculty members across various departments. The participants actively engaged in the sessions, interacted with the resource person, and sought clarifications related to e resource access and management.
