Drug Awareness Campaign: 10 Powerful Steps Towards a Drug-Free Society
Introduction
The Drug Awareness Campaign was successfully organized by NSS Units 216 and 219, in association with the Department of Criminology of Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi, on 10 July 2026 at the Seminar Hall, Golden Jubilee Block. The programme was conducted under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, in collaboration with the District Child Protection Unit, Thoothukudi.
The campaign aimed to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse, preventive measures, legal consequences, social impact and the role of young people in building a drug-free society. The programme was especially useful for first-year students of the Department of Criminology, as it connected classroom learning with real social issues.
Objectives of the Programme
The Drug Awareness Campaign was organized to educate students about the dangers of substance abuse and to motivate them to become active contributors to a healthy and drug-free society.
