Department of Zoology Inaugurates the Domain Club Fauna 2025

The Department of Zoology at Kamaraj College held the inauguration of its vibrant student-led initiative, Domain Club Fauna 2025 , on 29 July 2025 in the Smart Hall from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The event also coincided with the celebration of International Tiger Day, adding significance and purpose to the occasion.

The event was well attended by students, faculty members, and a special guest speaker, all united by a shared commitment to wildlife education and conservation. The event set the stage for a year of active learning, awareness, and hands-on projects under the guidance of the Zoology department.

Principal Dr. K. Bhanumathi Launches Domain Club Fauna 2025

The program began with a warm welcome extended to Dr. K. Bhanumathi, the Principal and Head of the Department of Zoology, who officially inaugurated the Domain Club Fauna 2025. She also honored the invited guest and delivered an insightful message on the importance of environmental stewardship and the need for active student participation in ecological initiatives.

She emphasized that clubs like Domain Club Fauna 2025 play a vital role in complementing academic learning with real-world ecological awareness. Her words served as an inspiration to students, encouraging them to take leadership roles in conservation efforts.

Domain Club Fauna 2025 Vision

Following the principal’s address, Dr. S. Nazerath Nisha, Coordinator of the Domain Club Fauna 2025, elaborated on the club’s objectives and upcoming plans. She introduced the vision of the Domain Club Fauna 2025, which is to nurture a deep appreciation for nature, biodiversity, and sustainable living practices among students.

She also presented the list of newly inducted Domain Club Fauna 2025 members and recognized their passion and interest in zoological studies and wildlife protection. The announcement of these student representatives marked a new beginning for the club’s leadership team.

Welcome Address by Student President

S. Suresh Kannan, a final-year BSc Zoology student and President of the Domain Club, delivered a warm welcome to the audience. In his speech, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the club’s leader and shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming events, seminars, and awareness campaigns.

He promised to work closely with the faculty and student members to organize meaningful programs that would benefit both the environment and the student community.

Observing International Tiger Day

As part of International Tiger Day, the department invited Mr. N. AjayForest Range Officer from Thoothukudi, to speak on the theme of tiger conservation. His session, titled “Protecting Our Wild Legacy”, focused on the importance of preserving India’s tiger population and the broader ecological implications of losing such a key species.

He shared practical examples from his field experience and discussed the challenges faced in forest protection, poaching prevention, and habitat restoration. His talk was both educational and motivating, especially for students who wish to pursue careers in wildlife sciences or conservation management.

Vote of Thanks and Closing Remarks

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by T. Mercy Sharmini, a first-year BSc Zoology student and Joint Secretary of the Domain Club. She extended sincere appreciation to the Principal, the guest speaker, faculty mentors, and her fellow students.

She also reiterated the importance of collective action in environmental preservation and encouraged her peers to actively participate in future programs hosted by the club.

Looking Ahead

With the successful launch of Domain Club Fauna 2025 at Kamaraj College, the Department of Zoology has taken a strong step toward blending academic knowledge with environmental responsibility.
