Day1: Rangoli, Reels Queen, Art from Waste, Bridal Makeup & Mehandi Competitions – International Women’s Day

Kamaraj College marshalled into this year’s International Women’s Day (2025) celebrations with great enthusiasm. Several competitions were organised on 3rd and 5th of March. On the first day (3.03.2025) around 9.30 a.m, Bridal Makeup event took place at Seminar hall (GJ block). An avid flock of participants gathered at the venue to flaunt their skills. A Total of sixteen students from eight teams participated in the event. Rose Vinslet, S.Jerlin Ponreena of I B.Sc Physics (Aided) won the first prize.
J.Lourdhu Renisha, M.Devika (II M.Com) (Aided) bagged the second prize followed by K. Vijaya Sankari (I M.Com), P. Archana Devi (III B.Com) (SF) in the third place.
“Art from Waste” was conducted at Bharathiyar Block, Hall no. 324 and 326. Students exhibited their talents by showcasing various art work from the given theme “Eco-friendly Art and Innovation.” A total of thirty students participated from fifteen different majors. Mrs. S. Akila and Mrs. P. Bhavani Devi were the judges. The judgement was based on the environmental consciousness, creativity and presentation. Ms. M. Mohila Devi and Ms. P. Muthu Meena of II M.Sc Botany (SF) secured the first place, Ms. J. Jeba Merlin and Ms. T. Nawfica Saliha of II B. Sc. Microbiology (SF) secured the second place, and Ms. J. Jeya Sinthiya and Ms. M. Mari Selvi of II B.Sc Chemistry (Aided) badged the third place.
Around 9.45 a.m the third event ‘Mehandi’ commenced at Bharatiyar block (hall no : 325) with thirty participants from fifteen teams beaming with excitement to display their splendid intricate designs. Mrs.S. Akila and Mrs. P. Bhavani Devi gave their unbiased judgements and declared the winners. Jeniva.M, Santhiya.K of II B.Sc Chemistry (Aided)received the first place. The second place was secured by M.Sujatha, S.Jara Sankalpa Sowmya of I M.Com. (SF) and the third place was won by Jana Priya.L, Susmitha.K of I M.A English (SF). The students exhibited their excellence through their art.
‘Reels Queen’ competition was conducted in the GJ Block Seminar Hall at 10.30 am. ‘Women in society’ was the given theme where the students expressed their talents and technical skills through creating a one minute reel. A total of twenty eight participants from seven departments partook in the event. All their reels were thought provoking. The judges evaluated and expressed their opinions and appreciated the efforts taken. From the judgement that was fairly made, it was announced that S. Selvavinayaki, J. Jose Kayalvizhi, M. Sandhiya and K. Vijayalakshmi of III B.Sc Computer Science (SF) secured first place; M. Santhiya, M. Maria Jesu Bency, S. Muthu Sankary Abinaya, and S. Maria Snowlin from the Department of Commerce (SF) secured second place; and K. Dheekshitha, P.J. Varshini, R. Joseph Pearlina Rose, and P. Jenitta Gladys of II and III B.Sc Microbiology (SF) secured third place.
Subsequently Rangoli competition started around 10.30 a.m in the Auditorium. A Total of thirty six participants from eighteen teams took part in the event. Students turned the dull floors into an amazing canvas of hope, strength and future of the womenkind. Judges J.Arun Bama and Shinicia fairly announced the winners. V. Vanabharathi, E. Anjali of I M.Sc Chemistry (SF) received the first prize followed by S. Ramya, S. Rajalakshmi of II MA English (SF) in the second place and E. Mahainduja, L. Anushiya of II M.Com in the third.
A total of 34 students from seventeen departments partook in Fireless Cooking which was conducted in the Botany Laboratory. Students presented their dishes which were not only appetizing but also scrumptious. M. Sivasakthi, T. Keerthana Mirra from the department of Commerce (Aided) bagged the first prize followed by A. Rithu Corera, A. Gittlin Sandra from the Department of Microbiology(SF) in the second place and M. Selvalakshmi, B. Shruthi from the Department of Commerce (SF) in the third place.
The entire day’s events turned out to be successful, inculcating further anticipation and healthy rivalry for the forthcoming event.
