The Department of Physics, in association with the Ultrasonic Society of India (USI), is organizing the “International Conference on Ultrasonics and Materials Science for Advanced Technology (ICUMSAT 2024)” from November 13th to 15th, 2024. On the first day of the event, a magnificent opening ceremony is held. The event opened with the ceremonial lamp lighting, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and innovation. Dr. Poongodi, Principal and convenor, welcomed the attendees, followed by Dr. Helen Flora, HoD of Physics provided insights into the department journey and contributions. Dr. Yudhisther Kumar Yadav, former General Secretary of USI, announced the prestigious USI awards. The conference’s abstract book was ceremonially released by the Chief Guest alongside the USI President and Vice-President, symbolizing a unified commitment to research dissemination. The keynote address by the Chief Guest and President of USI provided inspirational insights into advancements in ultrasonics and material sciences, setting an enthusiastic tone for the conference. The inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Mathana Gopal, organizing secretary of the conference. A hybrid format was used to share the opinions of twelve speakers from different states and two delegates from other countries. Several researchers gave oral presentations to close up today’s program.
