Botany Alumni Interaction: 10 Inspiring Career Lessons
Introduction
The Botany Alumni Interaction Meeting was successfully organized by the Department of Botany of Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi on 22 July 2026 at 01.15 p.m. in the Botany Laboratory.
The programme was conducted to strengthen the bond between the institution and its alumni. It also aimed to motivate students through career guidance, inspirational interaction and valuable sharing of real-life experiences by a distinguished alumnus of the department.
Objectives of the Programme

The programme commenced with the Welcome Address delivered by Ms. Muthusri of III B.Sc Botany.
She warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, alumni and students. Her welcome address created a pleasant beginning to the Botany Alumni Interaction programme and encouraged students to actively participate in the session.
Chief Guest and Resource Person
The Chief Guest and Resource Person of the programme was Mr. T. Prakash, M.Sc., B.Ed., M.Phil., Headmaster, Corporation Middle School, Gin Factory Road, Thoothukudi.
He is an alumnus of the Department of Botany, belonging to the 2000 to 2003 batch. His presence added great value to the programme, as he returned to his alma mater to interact with the present students and guide them through his academic and professional experiences.
Honouring of the Resource Person
The Chief Guest was honoured with a shawl by Dr. P. Pounraj, Assistant Professor of Botany and Department Alumni Coordinator.
A memento was presented to the resource person by Dr. T. Ponrathy, Head of the Department of Botany, as a token of appreciation. This gesture reflected the department’s respect and gratitude towards its distinguished alumnus.
