
Awareness Program on Global Drugs and Trafficking – History Dept and Tuticorin District Prohibition & Abstinence Administration
The Department of History of Kamaraj College and the Tuticorin District Prohibition and Abstinence Administration collaborately organized an awareness program against global drugs and trafficking at Kamaraj College. During the program, the professors and students took the drug prevention pledge. Essay competition, speech competition and painting competition were held for college students on the topic ” Role of youth in drug eradication”. In the Essay Competition, Ramalakshmi, II yr, Physics, won the first prize and Bharti (l yr) Zoology, won the second prize and Su. Aarti Bharti (ll yr) Economics, bagged the third prize. In the elocution Competition Ajitha, ll B.A. history, won the first prize, Jesina ( ll yr)M.Sc, Physics ,got second prize and Bala Saranya (ll yr)M.Sc, Physics won the third prize. In the painting competition, Surya, B.Sc (lll yr) from the Department of Business Management got first prize, Karthik B.A (lll yr) History got second prize and Mahalakshmi B.Sc (l yr) got third prize. District Excise Division Assistant Commissioner P. Selvanayakam, the Chief Guest, distributed the prizes and certificates. In this event, Dr.Poongodi, Principal of Kamaraj College, Excise Divisional Officer Thomas Payas Arul, Inspector Prabhakaran, Head of the Department of History, Dr A. Devaraj and others participated.Initially, Nathish( lll yr) History student, welcomed the students. Finally Gangadevi (ll yr) history student proposed the vote of thanks.This program brought about a great enlightenment and awareness of Drug Abuse and its impact on the Society.
