3 Alumni Motivation Event Inspires Final Year Criminology Students at Kamaraj College with Powerful Career Guidance
The Department of Criminology and Police Administration at Kamaraj College conducted a meaningful and interactive session on 24th July 2025 for the final year students of B.A. and B.Sc. Criminology. This special program was designed to help students prepare for life after graduation by connecting them with alumni who are now pursuing higher studies in law and physical education.
The event featured three successful alumni from the 2020–2023 and 2021–2024 batches, each of whom shared their personal journeys, struggles, achievements, and professional choices with clarity and honesty.
Distinguished Alumni as Guest Speakers
The session welcomed the following alumni as speakers:
- Mr. Vikash T. P. – Currently pursuing LLB (Hons.) at Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai
- Mr. Sathish Pandian S. – Pursuing LLB (Hons.) at Bharath University, Chennai
- Mr. Raja G. – Enrolled in Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed) at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore
These young professionals, not far removed from the undergraduate experience themselves, engaged in an open and informative discussion with the current students.
Real Talk on Career Planning and Higher Education
Each alumnus took turns sharing their experiences, highlighting the importance of clarity in career goals and the value of consistent efforts during their time at Kamaraj College. They explained how their academic background in criminology provided them with a strong foundation for their current paths.
Mr. Vikash T. P. spoke about his preparation strategies for law entrance exams and how subjects like Indian Constitution, Criminal Law, and Forensic Science from his undergraduate studies continue to support his academic journey in law.
Mr. Sathish Pandian S. encouraged students to consider multiple career tracks, including judicial services, law enforcement, and civil services. He emphasized the need to start early, seek mentorship, and maintain discipline.
Mr. Raja G. inspired students with his transition into physical education. He explained how the principles of discipline, body dynamics, and criminal psychology studied in his criminology degree helped him develop a holistic perspective on training and leadership in physical education.
Students Gain Practical Insights and Motivation
The final year students engaged with the speakers through a question and answer segment. They asked about entrance exams, preparation strategies, college selection, time management, and options for scholarships. The alumni answered every question patiently, offering both guidance and encouragement.
Many students expressed that hearing from those who had once walked the same corridors brought a sense of relatability and confidence. They appreciated the candid nature of the discussions and the practical advice shared.
Strengthening Alumni-Student Connection
The interactive session also played a vital role in strengthening the connection between current students and alumni. The Department of Criminology and Police Administration at Kamaraj College aims to make such interactions a regular feature. Faculty members observed that these sessions provide real-life perspectives that are sometimes missing in textbooks or regular classroom teaching.
The department coordinator Dr. B. Meenakshi expressed her gratitude to the alumni for their time and their willingness to give back to their alma mater. She acknowledged the positive impact that such honest and informative sessions can have on students standing at the threshold of career decisions.
A Stepping Stone for Future Events
This successful session served as a stepping stone for future initiatives where more alumni can share their stories and guidance. The department plans to create a structured alumni mentoring platform, where final year students can connect with past graduates on specific fields and interests.
The event concluded with a note of thanks to the guests and a group photo to commemorate the day.
