Alumni Interaction Programme: 10 Powerful Insights on AI

Introduction

The Alumni Interaction Programme was successfully organized by the Alumni Association of the Research Department of Computer Science of Kamaraj College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi on 06 July 2026 at the AMMS Ganasan Nadar Block. The programme was conducted for the benefit of the final-year Computer Science students.

The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. S. Senthil, M.C.A., M.Phil., M.E., Ph.D., Vice Principal and CS Alumni Association Faculty In-charge. The programme created a valuable platform for students to interact with successful alumni from the IT industry and gain practical insights into emerging technologies, software testing, career planning and professional growth.

Objectives of the Programme

The Alumni Interaction Programme was organized to provide industry exposure and career guidance to final-year Computer Science students.

The major objectives of the programme were:

  • To strengthen the relationship between alumni and present students
  • To provide industry exposure to final-year Computer Science students
  • To create awareness about emerging technologies in Artificial Intelligence
  • To introduce students to AI Agents and Claude
  • To explain the importance of software testing in the IT industry
  • To guide students on technical and soft skill development
  • To motivate students to prepare for successful careers in the IT sector

The programme helped students understand the importance of continuous learning and industry-oriented skill development.

Welcome Address

The programme began with the Welcome Address delivered by Ms. Saravana Priya of III B.Sc Computer Science. She warmly welcomed the dignitaries, alumni resource persons, faculty members and student participants.

The welcome address introduced the purpose of the session and highlighted the importance of alumni interaction in student development. It created a positive beginning to the Alumni Interaction Programme and encouraged students to make effective use of the opportunity.

Distinguished Alumni of the Programme

The distinguished alumni resource persons for the programme were Mr. C. Nanda Kumar, Associate Director, Cognizant, Chennai, and Mr. P. Jude Delano, Senior Associate, Cognizant, Chennai.

Both alumni belonged to the 1996–1999 B.Sc Computer Science Batch of Kamaraj College. Their participation made the programme highly valuable for the students, as they shared practical knowledge from their long professional experience in the IT industry.

Their presence also served as an inspiration to the final-year students, showing how dedication, learning and professional commitment can lead to successful careers.

Honouring of the Alumni

The distinguished alumni, Mr. C. Nanda Kumar and Mr. P. Jude Delano, were honoured with shawls and mementoes by Prof. T. Ravi, Head of the Department.

The honouring reflected the department’s respect and appreciation for its alumni and their valuable contribution to student guidance. It also strengthened the bond between the department and its former students.

The recognition of alumni during the programme encouraged present students to remain connected with the institution and contribute to its growth in the future.

Session on AI Agents and Claude

Mr. C. Nanda Kumar, Associate Director, Cognizant, Chennai, delivered an engaging session on AI Agents and Claude. He highlighted the latest developments in Artificial Intelligence and explained how AI-based tools and intelligent agents are transforming the technology industry.

He helped students understand the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence in software development, automation, decision-making and business solutions. He also explained the emerging career opportunities in AI-related fields and motivated students to upgrade their technical knowledge.

This session was highly useful for final-year students, as it introduced them to current trends and future possibilities in the IT sector.

Session on Software Testing

Mr. P. Jude Delano, Senior Associate, Cognizant, Chennai, delivered an informative session on Software Testing. He explained the importance of software quality assurance and testing methodologies in the software development process.

He guided students on the skills required for a successful career in software testing. He also explained how testing helps improve software quality, reduce errors and ensure better user experience.

The session helped students understand that software testing is an important career path in the IT industry and requires logical thinking, attention to detail, problem-solving ability and technical understanding.
