54th Tamil Nadu State Women Chess Championship

54th Tamil Nadu State Women Chess Championship was organised at Kamaraj College on behalf of TNSCA and TDCA from 16.01.25 to 20.01.25. It was an International FIDE rated event.It was inaugurated by Mr. V. Hariharan, Former Secretary of AICF and TDCA and the vice Principal of Kamaraj College Dr. A. Ashok. The secretary of the college and the President of TDCA presided over the function. The event had the backing up of all college members and TDCA members. 168 players from 26 districts participated in the event. It was conducted as a 9 round swiss system. The Chief Arbiter of the tournament was Mrs. Sivaranjini, International Arbiter.The 2nd round was inaugurated by Dr S. Vaseegaran. The 3 rd round was inaugurated by Mrs. Vishwa Bharathi, Managing Director of Gamesville Sports Academy. The 4 th round was inaugurated by the Dr. Guru, Physical Director of Government Arts college, kadaiyanalloor and Dr. Aldrin, Physical Director of Govt. Arts College, Nagalapuram. The 5 th round was inaugurated by Mr. Kathiravan, vp, TDCA, The 6 th round was inaugurated by Dr. Vasuhi, Asst. Prof., Department of English, MSU and Mr. Gurusamy of Port Trust( Retd.).The. 7 th round was inaugurated by Mr. A. Rajkumar, Asir Maruthi and Mr. Kannan, Branch Manager, TMB. The 8th round was inaugurated by National squash champion and partner of Thartius Engineering Mr. Aryan Steve along with Miss Nirmala, Teacher, Holy Cross Girls Hr.Sec. School. The 9th round was inaugurated by the Honourable minister of Social welfare and women empowerment Mrs. Geetha Jeevan.
The valedictory function was held on 20.01.25 at Kamarajar Kalvi Arangam presided by the President Mr. Natarajan of Kamaraj College and Mr. V. V. V. D. Senthil Kannan, VP of TDCA.The chief guest of the event was Mr. Kannan, Branch Manager, TMB. Mr. A. Rajkumar, MD, Asir Maruti gave the felicitation. The chief Arbiter read the Tournament report. Rs 1lakh cash prizes and 36 Trophies were awarded to the winners. Nivethitha of Chennai won the title. Many women faculty members and 2 Former Principals participated in the event and distributed the prizes to the winners. The big crowd of dignitaries on the dias appreciated the winners. The 1 St and 2 nd prize was sponsored by Kamaraj College. TMB sponsored the other prizes. Dr. T. Karpagavalli, Asst. Prof. of Kamaraj College and Secretary of TDCA proposed the vote of Thanks.
